Ashish X Topshop

I want to lick your face ?

I want to bite your toe ?

I want to kiss your fit older brother ?

Complete with a special t-shirt pen for scribbling in the blanks with whatever takes your fancy, Ashish puts you in control of his collection of playful and provocative tees for Topshop (although I'm not too sure I'd have enough room to write in the last one of my suggestions...)

I know it's completely old news, but for those who haven't seen Ashish x Topshop, the collection is all about

towelling hoodies

, bright, backless

swimsuits

(think of a more modern and cooler baywatch) and

black mesh tops with nipple crosses

(well you have to retain a slight element of modesty...)

The entire collection has me thinking of the kind of things you might pick up at a hotel gift shop in LA or Las Vegas after your suitcase got lost at the airport, mixed with a high-fashion twist and silly slogans.

I thought I was done with the whole slogan t-shirt thing but after seeing Moschino's

I don't speak Italian but I do speak Moschino

tee I couldn't help but fall a little bit in love with Ashish's playful collection for Topshop.

For now I'm keeping it blank. I guess it leaves a little for the imagination of others...

What would yours say?

Daisy Lace

Oh My Love Dress *

| Topshop Sunglasses | Zara Bag | Primark Shoes

As much as I'd like to pretend that I'm going to have a big white wedding and marry the love of my life one day, it is a more realistic expectation that I will become an old bachelorette (obviously

not

a spinster...) living in a derelict South London loft with a hundred cats and a thousand pigeons all coexisting harmoniously.

Plus, I'm 22, so the thought of marrying at this age terrifies me more than living with thousands of feral animals anyway... so allow me to indulge in a little wedding-free white lace fantasy of my own.

Dripping with sixties-style crochet daisies, this lace dress by

Oh My Love

is begging to be dolled up and taken out to a garden party (the invites to such parties seem to have been lost in the post...) Yet it has an effortlessly summer-cool vibe when paired with this seasons fugliest shoe:

the birkenstock.

There's always some weird and wonderful pleasure in combining an ugly thing with a pretty thing. When something is so pretty and perfect it becomes predictable and boring. When something has a bit of a quirk or an ugliness it makes a far more interesting and unique image.

Poolside Perfection

ASOS Beach Dress

Formula for poolside perfection:

Beach Dress + chilled, light, oversized jacket + sliders + big shades.

Easy.

Oh, and a slick of summery burnt orange lipstick (I'm wearing

MAC So Chaud

)

Okay, so I know that I am missing a pool, but the UK streets will simply have to suffice until I book myself on a plane and jet off to some scorching hot coastal town far

far

away from the UK...

Besides, with the boiling hot weather we had last week who says you can't incorporate some pool side pieces into your everyday wardrobe? Loose, oversized styles that catch the breeze are the quintessential summer comfort items. This way I can pretend like I've just rolled off my sun lounger at the beach club and I'm heading off to do a spot of shopping and grab a bite for lunch (when in reality I've just rolled out of bed and I'm heading to the co-op to pick up some toilet roll...)

Either way, summer days are made for cool and comfortable lazy dressing.

Sugar Rush

Topshop Boutique Shirt Dress |

Miss KG @ Kurt Geiger Sandals

| Primark Bag | & Other Stories Sunglasses

Do
you remember that scene in Gossip Girl when

Jenny Humphrey sets Vanessa up

to wear one of her dresses at a party and then it turns completely
see-through when the light falls on her? The spotlight hits V and everyone is
blinded by her underwear. Cue all of the party-goers snapping a picture and
sending it into GG for ultimate humiliation. Poor V...

You
might not be able to tell from these photographs, but this shirt dress is
pretty damn sheer. I'm not talking

Rihanna at the CFDA awards

sheer, but Im pretty sure its about 60% there. The oversized,
mannish fit means it falls a few inches from the body, so most stays obscured, but as soon as the wind brushes it against your body then people will
definitely be able to see enough to make judgement on the type of underwear you
wear. So for anyone who was lucky enough to be standing behind me on the tube
escalators or bus stairs last Thursday you probably got to see a little more
than you bargained for...

How
do you even go about wearing something that's sheer enough to show a preview of your underwear but not sheer enough to merit wearing a full slip
underneath? Sure, you can wear big, nude, granny knickers (if you

really

want to) But then when theres a
breeze the whole street is going to know you wear big, nude, granny knickers.
Or you could go the other way, and wear something seriously sexy. If theyre
going to see what lies beneath then surely you should make a statement?

I
sound like Im trying to convince myself. And thats because I am. In all
fairness, Id rather not look like an elderly lady or a mistress who has just
been treated to an Agent Provocateur spree.

American
Apparel has some

pretty
perfect basic bodysuits

in just the right shade of pink that Im dying to invest
in. Then at least when the wind blows Ill look more like a cool off-duty
ballerina or acrobat rather than a granny

Jungle Fever

Primark Skirt | Topshop Top (last season) |

Last seasons pretty florals have caught jungle fever. D

elicate daisies and roses have been replaced by palm trees, toucans, and bursting exotic flowers.

Pacific prints are everywhere you look. You cant walk into a store without feeling as thought you have got a little bit lost on a tropical island.

Using your Dad in a

Hawaiian

shirt on holiday circa 1995 as your summer style inspiration is always going to be a little bit scary...

but there is something about tropical prints that have you longing for a beach and a coconut cocktail like nothing else.

Golden rule of tropical dressing:

One paradise print piece per outfit (

unless

its a co-ord). You want to look like you have been inspired by the tropical foliage, not dressing up as an actual palm tree. I kept it very simple with black and white and a bright burnt orange-red lipstick (

MAC So Chaud

.. just in case you wondered..)

Palm trees, sandy beaches, surf boards, and bright flowers, all these prints have me thinking of retro 50's Hawaiian Air adverts.

Surfs' up. Will you be riding the tropical wave?
